I like Deryl but that is in large part due to how good the war arc is, some of his early writing leaves a lot to be desired, for the early game at first he was just the bland friend character, and when he does start getting focus it's being mind controlled, then you had the flashback that didn't make any of the 3 childhood friends look good and then when he has some real characterisation it's to be a cocky shit who attacks the MC outside of mind control. So if people don't like them I get it. When Deryl starts to become a more fleshed out character it's when he's at his worst.

As someone who is into emotional distance myself, I prefer Liz because she actually likes the MC and she clearly cares a lot about the people close to her.
To put it another way, Tiffany is ice cold emotional distance and Liz is lukewarm emotional distance.
Just because someone is into a certain thing doesn't mean they want it taken to the utmost extreme (especially if they're directly involved and not just a spectator). Some people like a little pain (being slapped), but not a lot of pain (being whipped).

Yeah honestly Tiffany is less emotional distance and more Ice Cold doesn't actually care about you. Nothing I've seen so far from her has given me any sort of signal's that she actually gives even the slightest fuck about you, at least for now. Might change later but at least for the time being it feel's more like she's using you to further her own interests rather than anything else.

After the infiltration in HERO it seems she starts to consider him at least a valuable asset. She decides to test her powers against him during the simulation fight, so it's obvious he is a reference of strong superhuman to her. We have the option to have sex with her before her marriage, i don't know exactly her logic regarding that but choosing Mc for that does have some meaning.
And during the mission against the Banshee she reveals how she considers Mc one of the few people she trusts, i think this is the most emotion she ever show.
